Feeling Crummy

Trying to pull myself out of a funk. I know part of it is because we’re all catching sick again. I guess that’s what happens when you go do an all day shop, and we’re just out and about in weird places that we don’t normally go, like we did this past weekend.Β  Benny got it first with the scratchy throat, and aches. Then Emily with an upset tummy and fever. Now it’s spread to Cassie, and me. Not a horrible horrible cold, but just enough to make you feel blah! Plus this is around the time of year last year when all the craziness started, so it’s bringing up crap that we’re just shaking our heads at. Also last year this time we were dealing with the basement flooding, and never ending rain. Thank the good Lord we’re not getting hit with anything like that this year!

So yesterday in gardening we got a couple of the bigger plants in the garden beds, and planted more tomato seedlings all around them. And we sowed a load of wild flower mix all around the yard! Dh saw that the dandelions had white puffballs on them, so we went out with a brown bag and gathered all the seeds from those, and we have another big batch to gather today also! We’re going to resow those and have salad greens, and I’m going to make tea from the roots. Since we got them from our own property, and we’ve been living here four years now, there’s no danger of pesticides, or crap like that, if we grow them ourselves.

Last weekend we started one of our garden beds as a three sisters garden, with corn, beans, and squash. Today when we were out watering, we saw that a whole heap of those are popping up!!! We might need to transplant a few of the bean plants. And I want to do some radishes in the planters that we took some of the bigger tomato plants out of, and I need to split my mint and lavender plants again! They are all doing amazing!

In knitting news… last night I wanted something different to work on, so I started making a simple cowl. 91 stitches with some lovely mint green yarn, and I’m doing seed stitch. Not sure if I’m going to do the whole thing in seed stitch or not yet, but I’m just going to work on it, and see what it becomes. I’m just loving the color of the yarn. I’ll share photos when I have more than 12 rows done. πŸ™‚

Oh, and we finally spent up a Christmas gift card that was given to us last year! We got a metal detector!!! I told the kiddo’s they might find more bottle caps and pennies than they ever thought was possible. But they’re going to start messing with it soon, and I might start a blog for them to document what they find, and where they find it. Should be fun! The store we got it at is going out of business, and now I see why too. They wanted $250 for the metal detector, and we had a $200 gift card.Β  They said they would price match, so dh pulls out his phone and finds it for $139.95!!! “Oh, but that’s Amazon! We can price match it anywhere Except from Amazon. You understand.”,Β  the store guy says. So dh google searches the make and model, and puts “price” at the end of the search… WalMart $135.74! Bwhahahahahahaha!!!! So yeah, we feel a bit like we ripped them off, and then they Made us rip them off a wee bit more. But, you know me and getting a good deal. πŸ˜‰

Anyway, gotta scoot off of here, because the bread dough is ready to be punched down, and then it’s out to the garden for a bit before dark! Happy weekend! πŸ™‚

I have a cowl I absolutely LOVE… but they have to be made out of fine, soft yarn, or they start to feel like a noose, you know?

At any rate – feel better soon!

Getting there. Yesterday was another crummy day but today is turning out pretty good if I stay focused! Must be the menopausal roller coaster or something. πŸ˜›
