School Days and yarny goodness!

Our first official week of home schooling here in CO is almost done!!! The beginning of the week went great.  Then I think it sunk in that moms gonna be shoving papers at us for the next 170 days, and blah hit! Hopefully they will all perk up today. Back in FL we did what I called Fun Friday, where if everyone got all the paperwork end of business caught up, we would do fun things like painting, and baking, and just all kinds of field trip type things. The way things are worded in the home school laws around here, makes me a little leery to call it Fun Friday though. I need a new term.  Self Directed Learning Day?

Yesterday we had a wonderful day!  Mostly because we finally made it to JoAnn’s while they were open.  We went there one Sunday afternoon only to find they were closed. They close at 6 on Sundays! Kind of shocking, but ok.  Then the next weekend we stopped back by on a Saturday.  They close at 7, and even though it was only 6:55 the gate was already closed on the store front.  I was able to snitch a flyer through the gate though, so that was good. 🙂

Then yesterday, we got there at around 5:30ish, and yaaay they were open. So me and the girls make our way back to the yarny goodness, and I really shouldn’t spend too much because the Yarn Crawl Across the Rockies is coming up.  BUT… clearance section!!!!!  Hoooo boy! Even the check out lady was marveling at the things I grabbed up!  Three skeins of Red Heart with Love yarn, in True Blue, for 50 cents each! Just because they didn’t have the wrapper! Team Spirit yarn in blue/white and purple/white for $2 a skein. And one lonesome Caron Pounder yarn in Forest Green, for a dollar! There were lots of dollar and fifty cent deals in those shelves, and I think I scooped them all plus some.  So then I had my 40% off one item coupon, and my 15% off teachers card, and ~~~~whhhhaaaa~~~~ even the check out girl was calling the other clerk over to show her how much yarn I scored for so cheap. 😀

SO, that was no help with the de-stashing AT ALL!  Must knit/crochet/weave faster!

Our fun friday is actually on a Thursday. No school work, walks in woods, picnics, visiting places. Funnily enough tbey probably learn more on those days than when we are sat at the table wotking!
